This year’s interfaith Thanksgiving chapel service held Nov. 17 gave Associate Pofessor of Religion and Philosophy Richard Rose and Learning Enhancement Services Coordinator Steve Kinzie an opportunity to share their experiences in the fourth annual interfaith conference in Amritsar, India, held Nov. 1 to 7.

Campus Ministry at the University of La Verne is joining the Brethren Disaster Response Network in clean-up efforts to help the areas that were most affected by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

The Coalition for Diversity held a social justice symposium, “‘Never Again’: The Forgotten Lessons of the Japanese American Internment During World War II, Arab American Treatment Post 9/11,” on Oct. 13 in La Fetra Hall.

The beginning of October floods minds with images of multi-colored fall leaves, Halloween décor and festivities, and students pouring over open books as midterms approach. However, for those of the Islamic faith, this particular month holds a deeper meaning.

The University of La Verne and the Claremont Colleges are just a few local institutions in Southern California extending aid to students and others affected by Hurricane Katrina.

As the murky water continues to recede in disaster stricken New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, the University of La Verne is working with the Church of the Brethren.
