Leos erased from SCIAC softball tourney

The softball team’s long and difficult SCIAC season came to an end this weekend for the Leopards, going 1-2 with losses to Redlands and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and a win over Whittier.

The softball team celebrated Senior Day, which honors the careers of its graduating players, on April 22. After winning their last home game of the season, teammates gave gifts and exchanged warm stories to honor the five graduating seniors: Delaney Baylor, Mandy Brenner, Lisa Neu, Ashley Paul and Kaitlin Ward. Softball seniors go out with a win

The Leopards took care of business on the field, sweeping the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens by scores of 4-3 and 10-4 on Senior Day on April 22.

Softball beats back Tigers in sweeping effort

With 14 RBIs and two homeruns, the Leopards proved their power is in its swing in a sweep over Occidental on Saturday, 4-3 and 12-4.

In the first game of a doubleheader against Claremont-McKenna-Scripps, Athena first baseman Olivia Jacobs was safe after La Verne third baseman Candice Nunez overthrew the ball to Raven Freret at first base in the top of the fourth inning. La Verne continued its eight game winning streak against Whittier on Saturday beating the Poets 3-0 in game one and 8-4 in game two.

The softball team swept its doubleheader conference opener against Cal Lutheran on Monday at Wheeler Park with scores of 3-2 and 6-4.
