The University of La Verne’s Campus Center Ballroom was teeming with creativity and knowledge Wednesday afternoon as it held the University’s annual faculty CASE Day.
In honor of Black History Month and Women’s History Month, the University’s office of Multicultural Affairs and Black Student Services hosted a “Black Girls Rock” awards event to honor Black women across the University, with student, faculty and staff honorees.
“Facing Our Truth: Short Plays on Trayvon, Race, and Privilege” explored themes of racial injustice and what the trauma of growing up black in America looks like, with an audience and actor “talk-back” panel following each performance.
Growing up in Rialto, Dyamond Gray was exposed to different cultures and influences. Gray would see people ride their horses on the sidewalk as she looked out the window of the school bus.
