The La Verne Heritage Foundation and the city of La Verne hosted the last of six free summer concerts in Heritage Park on Sunday. 

It’s the dream of almost every American – to be plucked out of obscurity, offered fame and fortune and given the opportunity to be berated and criticized by Simon Cowell. Well, maybe not that last part.

Thanks to Chuck Berry, rock ‘n’ roll has an irreplaceable backbeat “any ole’ time you use it.”

It may only be rock ‘n’ roll, but we like it and live it. Quenching our tuneful thirsts, we stretch our metal heads to capacity with musical knowledge, spin and re-spin records and seek out new artists when stuck in the dreaded “rut.”

There are some restaurants people enjoy because the food is incredibly delicious. There are other restaurants that offer such an inviting atmosphere; patrons have no choice but to flock to it. And then there are those restaurants that are simply too fascinating to turn away from.

Following a summer of 2 Dumb & 2 Dumberer cinematic lows, hunting for entertainment outside the pale of the studio system is more necessary than ever.
