Laughter and “here, here’s” filled LaFetra Auditorium yesterday as students watched their professors debate whether human rights are a luxury only developed countries can afford.
There is nothing students love more than peeling back the layers of a professor and finding out that he or she is more than a talking head at the front of a classroom. Sometimes it manifests in an unlikely place, such as the Morgan Auditorium on a recent Friday evening.
As the centennial for the University of La Verne debate team approaches, assistant professor of speech and debate Ian Lising has organized a series of faculty debates to celebrate the milestone.
