With Nationals right around the corner, the University of La Verne track and field team gave it one last shot at earning berths to the national championship meet, to be held May 27-29 at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., by competing in the Claremont Classic last weekend in Claremont.
In a strong performance at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track and field championships, the University of La Verne men’s and women’s track teams put together a total team effort but came up short as they ran into a pumped up Claremont team that swept both the men’s and women’s team titles, Monday afternoon at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
With an 11th place finish at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Regional Cross Country Meet in McIver Park in Estacada, Ore., the University of La Verne men’s cross country ended its season Saturday.
All the hard work this season comes down to one race that will tell all. With that in mind, the Leopard cross country team lined up and let it all hang loose, leaving their mark at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at La Mirada Park.
With championship time around the corner, questions begin to arise about teams' ranking in their respective conferences and where they stand in the grand scheme of things. What better way to find out than going head-to-head with the competition.
