This week we saw the 2005-2006 college basketball season come to a close with the Florida men’s team and the Maryland Terrapins women’s team both winning their first national championships.
"Fired up" is a term that only describes the peak of any one person's or team's emotions. Last Tuesday, "fired up" was the perfect phrase to describe the University of La Verne men's volleyball team, when it defeated George Mason, a Division I school, in four games, 11-15, 15-8, 15-8 and 15-8.
Friday night’s win against Vassar was nothing compared to the high impact volleyball game that La Verne played Wednesday night against George Mason that ended in a winner take all rally with the Patriots prevailing in five games, 16-13,13-15,15-9,12-15,10-15.
Power seems to be the key to victory in Division I volleyball. The University of La Verne men’s team is still trying to find the power that will make them more competitive at that level.
