The season ended on a high note for the La Verne baseball team as it avoided a three game sweep by winning the final game of the series against Pomona Pitzer, 13-10, on Saturday at Ben Hines Field.
The Leopards powered their way past the Whittier Poets on Friday, 14-5, to go along with a terrific pitching performance by senior Jesse Sweet, as they completed a three game sweep over the poets on Saturday extending their winning streak to 11 games.
The baseball team’s offense caught fire during the California Invitational Tournament winning the first four games of the tournament and extending their win streak to five dating back to their win over Keio Japan.
With the fate of their season in sight, and three conference foes standing in their way, La Verne baseball team played Occidental last weekend, winning two of three.
In what turned out to be a gloomy weekend, the La Verne baseball team shined last weekend playing their most important series of the season, winning two dramatic games against conference foe Whittier.
