Election Day is always important but it is not always the most memorable occasion. Of course, there are officials to elect, propositions to pass or reject and results to watch. But this past Election Day was historic.

The anti-Republican – or anti-Bush – sentiment nationwide was not strong enough to penetrate the California Gubernatorial election in which Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, as predicted, easily defeated Democratic opponent Phil Angelides on Tuesday.

Democratic congressional candidate Cynthia Matthews greeted citizens at an open house Sept. 25 in Claremont in an effort to get her message to the people.

In one of the most targeted and watched races of this year, Rep. George Brown (D-Colton) is being challenged by Judge Linda Wilde for the 42nd Congressional District seat.

"I believe in giving young people opportunity and older people security," said David Levering, Democratic challenger to Rep. David Dreier (R-San Dimas) for the 28th District, expressing one of the goals that he plans to achieve if he is elected into the 105th Congress.
