With dwindling hopes of making it to the Division III playoffs, the University of La Verne women’s volleyball team fell victim to two teams they had previously defeated, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and the University of Redlands.
Blocking the spikes with a wall of bodies was one way that the Leo women’s volleyball team stopped its opponents, the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, last Saturday, 9-15, 15-6, 6-15, 15-4 and 15-13.
Still holding strong, the University of La Verne women’s volleyball team had a fluctuating string of wins and losses last week as the team took on Cal Lutheran, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and the University of Redlands, winning two of the three matches.
After seven losses and no wins in the preseason, the women’s volleyball team opened its league play with a 3-1 (12-15, 15-5, 15-5, 15-7) win over Occidental College last Friday in the Supertents.
After losing its first two matches of the season, the women’s volleyball team hopes to improve its game at the St. Bens Holiday Inn Invitational this weekend in St. Joseph, Minn.
