Former ULV president dies

Dr. Leland B. Newcomer, former president of the University of La Verne and an instrumental figure in many of the university’s important developments, died April 9 at the age of 86.

Grad speakers announced

This year’s spring commencement ceremonies will feature University of La Verne Board of Trustees member Myrna Long Wheeler; Dean of the College of Educational and Organizational Leadership Leonard Pellicer; host of KPCC-FM’s “Air Talk” Larry Mantle; author and peace activist Azim N. Khamisa; and U.S. Army Major General Retired William K. Suter.

New Literacy Center opens doors

Following the move from the second floor of the University of La Verne Bookstore, the Literacy Center unveiled its new facilities at an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 23.

ULV’s Literacy Clinic receives a $100k grant

The sweet smell of cookies filled the room while in the library, a little girl picked a book from the shelf and read as she waited for her tutor. Hard to believe this little girl is one of many children in the local area that have trouble reading. This is what donors see when they come to visit the University of La Verne’s Literacy Clinic.

Students initiated into honor society

The Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society initiated 30 University of La Verne students on Nov. 18, at the Harris Art Gallery.
