Julia Reinhard Lupton, professor of Shakespeare Studies at UC Irvine, spoke at the “Sovereigns, Citizens and Saints: An Introduction to ‘Measure for Measure’” lecture as a part of the La Verne Shakespeare Experience prior to the Saturday performance of “Measure for Measure.”
The main characters in William Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” deal with both internal and external conflict surrounded by their own greed, virtues and indicative morals.
Cynicism, bitterness, secret identities and manipulation are some of the themes explored in Shakespeare’s comedy “Measure For Measure,” which opens April 24 in the Dailey Theatre.
