Ever since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Americans have been showing pride, patriotism and respect for the United States by displaying the American flag. There are American flags on cars, shirts, outside of houses, even on little toothpicks stuck in sandwiches.
Schools punish patriotism
It was about four years ago and American soldiers, who were stationed in the Middle East, came home to a hero’s welcome after winning the Desert Storm conflict. The stores were filled with fashions adorned with the American flag and other patriotic symbols. Wearing these fashions wasn’t uncommon in public and at schools. It was the way people showed their support for the soldiers and the actions that took place in the Middle East.
