The first several weeks of the academic year is often referred to as the Red Zone, a period of time between move-in day and Thanksgiving break when college students – first year students and women in particular –  are most likely to experience sexual assault.

The University’s Title lX office collaborated with the Greek Life last week to put on a sexual assault awareness booth in front of the Campus Center.

Carson Bechtel is a 20-year-old sophomore political science major at the University of La Verne, who identifies as non-binary with the pronouns he, him and they, them. His personal story of being a victim of sexual assault and rape begins when he was made to leave his father’s home in Phoenix in 2019.

As I heard the news that South Carolina removed the exceptions on rape and incest to their abortion law I could not help but be filled with anger, confusion and tears. How could the country that I live in deny autonomy to the lives of so many women?

Over the course of the year, I have come across several tweets made by outraged users regarding the seemingly prevalent “narrative,” as some users have defined it, of false rape accusations.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences expelled film producer and sexual predator Harvey Weinstein, but not other notable abusers — including Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski and Casey Affleck — showing that they are just saving face and are willing to let other abusers off the hook.
