Visitors grabbed their picking poles and filled their mesh bags with various citrus fruits to celebrate La Verne’s history at the last day of the traditional orange picking event Saturday at Heritage Park in La Verne.
Heritage Park – the last of La Verne’s old orange groves and home to the Weber House – is abuzz with activity this time of year as visitors come from throughout the area for the pick of the season.
Families, schools and people from the surrounding communities can come out to the orange groves at Heritage Park every Saturday through March to enjoy a taste of La Verne’s finest oranges.
Amid the wafting barbecue scents, endless food stands, giant stuffed-animal prizes and shopping expos, the Los Angeles County Fair dedicated an entire day to the city of La Verne on Sept. 27.
