The La Verne Community Center transformed into a Roaring ‘20s party full of wine, live entertainment and old-fashioned dancing, at the biannual Senior Dinner Dance Extravaganza Sunday.
While the Youth Activity Center at Cahuilla Park in Claremont held a gathering of teens with a DJ and barbeque, Taylor Hall housed seniors who displayed their handmade crafts at the city’s first Spring Boutique Senior Arts and Crafts Faire.
How many people do you know who have actually helped an old lady cross the street? How many people do you know who can sit patiently and attentively listen to a senior citizen and not complain about how much time it took? I do not know about you, but I have only heard about a handful.
Their faces are wrinkled, their hearing is going bad, their hair is graying, their gaits are slowing and their memories are depleting, but the elderly are some of the greatest bunch of people to be around. They have infinite wisdom. They've got countless experiences behind them, as well as many in front of them.
