Going to the SCIAC championship and coming in seventh was a big feat for the women’s tennis team as it finished up its season.

In preparation for the SCIAC tennis finals next week, the La Verne women’s team clashed with the Redlands Bulldogs Wednesday, April 10, and with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ junior varsity tennis team Saturday, April 13.

Demonstrating a winning performance and attitude, the University of La Verne women’s tennis team picked up an easy 7-2 victory against Whittier on Wednesday, increasing its record to 2-8.

Usually a team with returning players is ideal, but not for the women’s tennis team. Women’s tennis is undergoing a transitional building phase with five returning senior players and one freshman. Head coach Wendy Zwissler is not expecting a championship from the women. Instead the team’s goal is to have fun, which may not be easy with a 1-7 record.

Juniors Richard Quesada and Christina Tejeda were elected Associated Student Federation (ASF) Forum president and vice president, respectively, along with other new Forum members in a special Forum election on Wednesday.
