It had been a long time since I had been out on the dance floor. Four years to be exact, so I was not sure what to expect when I heard that Campus Activities Board and their Special Events coordinator Sam Dauz was putting on a learn how to swing dance event.
Music from big bands such as Cherry Poppin' Daddies and classics including Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller echoed through the perimeters of the University of La Verne Supertents, as an estimated 34 students took swing dancing lessons Tuesday night.
Several decades ago, there was once a fad for "jivin' music," "jitterbugging," and big band leaders such as Glenn Miller and Cab Calloway. Teens were at their prime with what has today become of large interest -- swing music.
