Many hopes and dreams were crushed when the men’s soccer team fell to the visiting Sagehens from Pomona-Pitzer 3-1 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday at Ben Hines Field.
Coming off 4-0 loss to Redlands on Oct. 9, the men’s soccer team came out with a desire to beat Occidental and it was apparent from its physical play they would not settle for anything less than a win.
The men’s soccer team won its first game of the 2009 season Saturday, after it scored three first half goals and never relinquished the lead, to defeat Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 4-1.
Playing under the bright lights at Memorial Stadium in Whittier, the football team achieved something Saturday that they have not done since head coach Andy Ankeny’s arrival last season.
