With the end of beach tans and the start of textbooks flipping open, the summer movie season is in the history books.

After the release of “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al Gore was at the center of jokes and parodies concerning global warming. In May 2006 Gore starred in the opening skit on “Saturday Night Live,” joking about how his last six years as “president” have changed the world for the best.

Movies opening this summer promise excitement, blockbuster special effects and new installments of many fan favorites like “Spiderman 3” and “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.”
