The University of La Verne women's soccer team was able to outwit the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, 2-0, Wednesday.

In a game Saturday at Occidental College, the University of La Verne women's soccer team wasted a big chance to climb out of the cellar regions of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings. It dropped the game 3-1 and their conference record to 2-4, 2-8 overall.

Two injuries resulted in two losses for the University of La Verne women's soccer team against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Redlands.

The saying goes, hard work pays off, and for the Leopards it finally did. Behind tough physical play and a hat trick from freshmen forward Amber Lejay as well as a goal from junior forward Amy Quesenberry, the Leopards picked up their first two victories of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Pomona-Pitzer and a 4-1 route over Cal Lutheran to improve their conference mark to 2-1 Saturday morning and Wednesday evening at Ben Hines Field.

The season opener came too early for the University of La Verne women's soccer team as it suffered a 4-1 loss against Chapman University Sept. 6 at Ben Hines Field.
