Christmas Music

Island Black Music releases “Special Gift,” a 12-track Christmas album Nov. 19. It features a mix of new and classic Christmas tunes from Island Black Music recording artists.

Navajo Art

The Lower Lobby Gallery presents “Dream Figures: Navajo Folk Art Traditions” Saturday, Nov. 23. The museum will display the work of artists Leland Holiday and Roger Armstrong. The show runs through Jan. 19. For more information, call (213) 221-2164, ext. 235.

Short Films

American Cinematheque will present “New York Shorts,” short films about the New York experience by New York filmmakers, Nov. 30. The pieces include “Number One Local,” a portrait of a subway conductor who has been on the line for 20 years, and “Meats & Jesus,” an intercultural story about work and dreams in a butcher shop. Kazan Film

“America, America,” a film by Elia Kazan, will be presented Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at Skirball Cultural Center in the Santa Monica Mountains of Los Angeles. The film is about his uncle’s voyage from Armenia to America, and about pursuing the American Dream. Admission is $5 for general admission, $4 for members and $3 for students.
