A whirlwind of honor will soon sweep two University of La Verne students into the limelight as Homecoming King and Queen.
In past years, nominations have been restricted to clubs and organizations, but as of this year, anyone can nominate a prospective senior to the court.
“We wanted other organizations and people on campus to have a chance to have input on who gets nominated and placed on court,” said Associated Student Federation Forum Vice President Dan Lougheed.
Nominations will be placed through Oct. 22. Then, on Oct. 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the seal, students and faculty will vote for 10 candidates. Finally, the King and Queen will be selected in elections held on Nov. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the seal.
Spirit Week will begin Nov. 4. After elections, the Spirit Booth near the seal will distribute orange bracelets. The ULV mascot will be distributing free merchandise to students.
Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., spirit buttons will be distributed to celebrate “Alma Mater” day. From 8 p.m. to midnight, Davenport Dining Hall will host the annual Monte Carlo Night.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, ULV will wear green and orange clothing. Campus Illumination and the presentation of Homecoming court will take place at the Founders Hall steps at 8 p.m. A karaoke pizza bash will take place at Michaelangelo’s pizza from 9:30 p.m. to midnight.
Free paw print tattoos will be distributed on Friday, Nov. 8 from 11 am. to 1 p.m. as a part of Leo Connection “Paw-er” day. At 7:30 p.m. the Powder Puff game will begin. At halftime, the king will be announced. After the game, a bonfire will be held at the softball field.
Saturday, Nov. 9, Homecoming day, will begin with the ULV Fair at the University Mall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m At noon, the parade will march down Third Street. The Homecoming game, ULV vs. Menlo will begin at 1 p.m. at Ortmayer Stadium. During halftime, the Homecoming Queen will be crowned.
