Dear Editor,
Any Greek who has walked the University of La Verne campus knows Bob Rivera [“La Verne mourns mentor,” Feb. 20]. As stated in your story, he was the “godfather” of the ULV Greek system. On a campus where Greek life was disregarded, frowned upon and even ridiculed by members of the La Verne faculty, Rivera was its champion. As a member of the local Sigma Tau Xi and a founding member of Phi Delta Theta, I appreciate that Rivera was a mentor and a supportive guiding force for us as we made the transition from a local into an international fraternity. He was the uncle to every Greek and the contributions to California Rho of Phi Delta Theta, the Greek system and to the University of La Verne will surely be missed.
