Poetry Contest

Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum is accepting poems of 20 lines or fewer for the Poetic Achievement Awards contest. Winning entries will be considered for publication in the Summer 2000 edition of “Treasured Poems of America,” as well as a total of $1,000 in cash prizes to be awarded.

The contest closes Nov. 30. Winners will be announced Jan. 31, 2000.

Film Series

Tonight at 7 p.m. “October Sky” will be shown in La Fetra Auditorium as a part of the film series, “How Does Your Garden Grow? Films about Diversity.”

On the first Friday of the month, a film will be shown. “Mississippi Masala” is scheduled for Nov. 5, “Lone Star” on Dec. 3, “Crooklyn” on Jan. 7, “Ruby in Paradise” on Feb. 4, “Joy Luck Club” on March 3 and “Smoke Signals” on April 7.
