A ceramicist opened the night with a slide show including pictures of her family, her early artwork and her hometown, Cusco, Peru. The Peruvian native and recent John Guggenheim Fellowship recipient, Kukuli Velarde, spoke at the opening reception of her exhibit, “Plunder Me, Baby,” Saturday at the American Museum of Ceramic Art.
Eric Bishop, a University of La Verne alumnus, who also held several positions at La Verne – including associate dean of academic advising, journalism professor and Campus Times adviser – was recently appointed president of Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California. He starts July 6.
It has been 15 long, spectacular years of coaching at the University of La Verne for Owen Wright, professor of physical education, who will retire this month. But for Wright, he will take with him fond memories of ULV when he moves to Oregon next month.
