Less than three weeks apart, Iowa and Utah governors signed a bill, named by New York Times food writer Mark Bittman, the “Ag-Gag” bill, that stops undercover animal abuse investigations.
It was terribly sad to hear the news about Dawn Brancheau, the SeaWorld whale trainer who was drowned by one of the show’s orcas last week. It’s hard to imagine what her family is going through at this moment.
While many of crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s fans have been busy sending flowers and gifts to the Australia Zoo in memorial of the late wildlife preservationist’s untimely death a few weeks ago, we at the Campus Times were disappointed to learn that others may be paying their respects in a much more alarming way; killing stingrays in retaliation.
In this time of war some of you reading this might question why I am choosing to write about the horror of the fur industry. But the way I see it, the topics are one in the same.
