More than 60% of University of La Verne students commute to campus, which means a lot of bathroom use outside of the dorms. Daily commuters make an important decision about where to answer nature’s call.

After fights for transgender rights accomplished widespread installation of gender neutral bathrooms in recent years, some universities are providing free menstrual products in men’s restrooms to accommodate students who identify as a gender different than their anatomic sex. This step shows that institutions are willing to support their diverse student bodies.

President Obama signed into law a new legislation on Oct. 7 that will require men’s bathrooms in public federal buildings have a changing station for babies in an initiative called the Bathrooms Accessible in Every Situation Act, a gender role-breaking initiative that promotes inclusivity.

The Associated Students of the University of La Verne hosted a town hall meeting Wednesday in Morgan Auditorium, giving students the opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions regarding the state of the University.

The University of La Verne is preparing to install more than 20 gender-neutral bathrooms on campus to provide the transgender community with restrooms they feel comfortable using.

A number of bathrooms on-campus have recently been earmarked to be converted to gender-neutral bathrooms, a positive sign of the University living its mission of creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
