Bikers, runners, walkers, skaters and people of all ages lined D street as the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority presented 626 Golden Streets, Heart of the Foothills, a free community event that promotes sustainable, active modes of transportation. 

The University of La Verne has introduced a new bikeshare program, Spin, to the main campus to support healthy living and exploration of the city. It is one of the best things to come to campus in a long time.

The city of San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department and Bike San Gabriel Valley hosted a free community bike ride Saturday in front of the San Dimas city hall which previewed the new CicLAvia route.

Samantha Farless, senior public relations major, is riding on her way to make a change with her senior project, by pushing for the University to include designated bicycle lanes in the campus master plan.

Many teens look forward to turning 18 and no longer being required to wear a helmet while riding their bikes; however, a proposed bill will require all bikers regardless of age to wear helmets. Carol Liu, the Democratic state senator representing La Verne and surrounding areas, has recently proposed Senate Bill 192, which will affect all bike riders throughout California.

The Cycling Club is getting ready to begin its first semester at the University of La Verne and if you have even the slightest interest in riding a bike, this club is for you.
