Discussing upcoming recruiting visits and a possible promotional video on the La Verne football team, Head Coach Don Morel did not look like a man with any anger about not being offered a bid to the national playoffs.
Slaughtering its last eight opponents still is not enough to get the Leopards among the top four teams in the Division III West football ranking. But Head Coach Don Morel is not letting the ranking affect his game plan.
“We were one Anthony down, but we managed to find some new weapons,” said senior quarterback Ryan Campuzano about the University of La Verne football team’s victory Saturday. The Leos cruised past the Occidental Tigers, giving the Leos a perfect 7-0 record for the season.
The University of La Verne Leopards trampled over the Azusa Pacific Cougars Saturday, 51-17, leaving the visiting team in the shadow of La Verne’s 6-0 overall record.
There is the story of the fighter who wants to go one more time with the champ. Sometimes he is fortunate enough to win and end his career in a blaze of glory. On the other hand, the fighter gets humiliated, never posing a threat to the champ, getting beat to a pulp. Unfortunately, that last fight is all most people remember even if the fighter had a great career.
