For the second year in a row, the University of La Verne debate team is the top team in the Western Hemisphere, by placing in Worlds, an international competition.
From within the walls of Davenport Dining Hall, students were enlightened as the University of La Verne debate team argued on the motion "That this house would abolish the Electoral College" on Thursday, Nov. 30.
In an exemplary premiere performance, the University of La Verne Speech and Debate Team traveled to San Diego State University on Oct. 14-16 to compete in the Aztec Invitational. In continuing with tradition, the team proved their excellence by capturing several top honors.
With a stern and solemn face, senior Stefan Chacón approaches the podium from where he is to deliver his argument. He and debate teammate senior Sean Krispinsky, have prepared their speaking points for the past 15 minutes, but Chacón still feels somewhat apprehensive at getting up to speak, delaying for a few precious moments to discuss some last minute additions to his speech.
