It is hard to believe that only three years ago Manchester Orchestra came out with a little known album called “I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child.”

Three new female staff members ­­Catie Mccorry-Andalis, Lorena Gomez and Laura Lopez -­ have filled positions in the University of La Verne Office of Housing and Residential Life as Program Coordinator, Housing Services Coordinator, and Area Coordinator, respectively.

Imagine a party on campus in the dorms, complete with alcoholic beverages, a huge selection of available narcotics and a large amount of food, for the munchies of course.

My photographer and I had just walked out of the ground floor of Miller Hall, heading toward Brandt Hall on assignment. Rather than using hypothetical situations of drug and alcohol use in the dorms, I wanted real accounts. I could have also used recollections of events, but for the sake of credibility and reality, students need the here and now of drug use and drinking in dorms.

The University of La Verne's Office of Housing and Residential Life and the Department of Campus Safety and Transportation are working together to formally enforce the issue of zero tolerance against drug and alcohol consumption.

An uninvited male who entered a former Brandt resident's room on Sept. 2 and verbally sexually harassed the female resident, has yet to be identified.
