Roommates and computer science majors Nick Van Der Wande and Jason Opdycke have made a proposal to assist in installing Ethernet into the Oaks Residence Halls. Ethernet is a service which would allow students to connect to the Internet without having to use their phone line.

With the University of La Verne's technological needs rapidly increasing, decisions to consolidate the Management of Information Systems (MIS) and Academic Computing Services (ACS) have been made.

No matter how real the threat posed by the computer bug commonly known as Y2K may be, the University of La Verne is not taking any chances. What ever will happen or not happen on the night of Dec. 31, 1999, the University is making sure that any possible damages will be limited.

Planes will fall from the sky, automatic doors will refuse to open, there will be no electricity nor water, riots will break and governments will panic. These are some of the predictions for the year 2000, due to potential threats posed by the Y2K or millennium bug.

In the recent selection to fill the vacated position of director of management information systems, Clive Houston-Brown began his first day of work last Tuesday, April 1.
