Delta Sigma Phi removed from IFSC

After an intense discussion at an emergency Inter-Fraternity Sorority Council (IFSC) meeting on Wednesday, Delta Sigma Phi's membership was revoked from IFSC at the University of La Verne.

As I was reading an article in last week's paper ["Rock defaced; vandals unknown," March 21], I came across the quote, "Most Greeks are followers and all of FTC are leaders." Being a Greek myself, I was naturally offended by this statement.

Red and blue spray paint covered the Rock last Friday. Not in the usual attempt at showing school spirit, however. It was meant to disfigure Sigma Alpha Epsilon's (SAE) previous painting of the Rock which was painted that same night between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

The men's basketball team came to play Wednesday night. Not only did the Leopards force two overtime periods, but the Leopards also overcame a first half deficit for the first time all season to win in dramatic fashion over the Occidental Tigers, 106-104.

Thanksgiving weekend is just around the corner. For many University of La Verne students, this is the first holiday of the year when they get to go home. For others, it is just a time to relax, catch up on homework and spend time with their loved ones. Most importantly, it is a time to give thanks.
