The University of La Verne celebrated Veteran’s Day Monday by announcing a $2 million donation from Sara and Michael Abraham to the Center for Veteran Students Success.
The University of La Verne partnered with the city of La Verne and the La Verne Veterans of Foreign Wars organization to recognize servicemen and servicewomen for Veterans Day Friday at Veterans Hall on Bonita Avenue.
The Veterans Memorial stands tall and proud on the corner of Bonita and Wheeler avenues, just as veterans and active service members did Wednesday as community members applauded them for their courage at the City of La Verne’s Veterans Day ceremony.
Saturday afternoon the City of La Verne, the Bonita Unified School District,the Chamber of Commerce and the VFW Post 12034 partnered together to host the First La Verne Armed Forces Day Concert at the Glenn Davis Stadium.
For the first time in La Verne’s 101-year history, a woman will serve on the city council. But councilwoman Donna Nasmyth said she would rather have citizens focus less on her gender and more on her qualifications for the job.
