Death is not spectator sport

A woman chases down a man, crushing him until he is immobile, with a forearm across his throat. The twitching man suddenly goes limp and the woman rolls him to his side, grabs what looks like a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, then leaves him lying dead.

Fighting disease, not lifestyle

Over six years ago, I stood at the edge of my uncle’s bed and watched him slowly deteriorate from a loving father to mere skeleton. Spotted with brown lesions and almost bald as a side effect of AZT, he was dying from complications associated with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
