It was a day filled with mixed emotions after the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis tournament was suspended due to the rain.
Returning a serve in her first game, Desiree Whipperman, No. 6 singles for the La Verne women’s tennis team, was defeated by Aimme Fiore of Cal Lutheran in two games, 6-0, 6-2.
Seeking their first conference victory of the year, the University of La Verne women’s tennis team ran into the reigning Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champions, Pomona-Pitzer and its lethal rackets and were nearly shut out as they were defeated 8-1 on Valentines Day in Claremont.
