Fighting for a playoff berth, the University of La Verne Leopards and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags knew they were going to have a battle on their hands before entering the showdown series of the season. The Stags sat comfortably in the driver’s seat going into Saturday’s doubleheader after picking up an 8-6 win over the Leopards on Friday.
