Emotion ran high at a faculty farewell breakfast buffet for Fred Yaffe, the outgoing dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Yaffe is stepping down from his position and he will join the faculty at the University of La Verne in the fall.

The College of Arts and Sciences changed its by-laws Nov. 5 to establish a new seven faculty member governing council.

A vote of no confidence in Provost Alden Reimonenq was issued from the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences on Oct. 8.

Head baseball coach Scott Winterburn, whose team won the SCIAC championship last May, accepted a new position as assistant athletic director with mixed feelings, following a failed tenure bid that caused University of La Verne administrative officials to change his job classification from faculty member to administrator.

Fred Yaffe, the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will leave his position at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

The University of La Verne will be implementing budget cuts for the 2008-2009 fiscal year due to a recent decrease in enrollment and other factors affecting revenues.
