The men’s soccer team finished its 2013 season with a 2-1 overtime loss to Cal Lutheran on senior night Saturday at Ortmayer Stadium.

With leopard print balloons crowding the scorer’s table, the men’s soccer team faced the conference champion Redlands Bulldogs, walking away with a 3-0 loss.

An exciting second half led to a Whittier comeback, resulting in a 2-1 final score as the men’s soccer team fell to the visiting Poets in overtime on Sept. 14 at Damien High School.

The men’s soccer team is looking to be a contender for the conference title this year following a heartbreaking end to last year’s season when the team missed the playoffs by one game.

After a successful 2008 campaign by the men’s soccer program, the team was rewarded with five members being named to the All-Conference team.

As the regular season winds down to its final game, the La Verne men’s soccer team is sitting pretty with a place in the playoffs after a week of clutch play that included defeating the Caltech Beavers, 6-3, last Saturday, and Pomona-Pitzer, 2-0, on Wednesday.
