In 1996-97, the La Verne men's basketball team had a tough time keeping up with most Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams, but in 1997-98 the Leopards, led by a strong core of seniors, finished third in conference with an 18-7 overall record.
Nuts defeat Fury in intramural title game
Intramural Basketball 1997 finally came to a close Wednesday night in the Supertents as the Nuts defeated the Fury, 58-45, in the championship game.
Leopards end season with a win
The men's basketball team completed the 1997 season this past week as they travelled to the No.1 team in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) on Saturday Feb. 22, losing by 16, 76-60, and hosted Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, winning 71-63.
Leopards brawl Tigers in overtime
The men's basketball team came to play Wednesday night. Not only did the Leopards force two overtime periods, but the Leopards also overcame a first half deficit for the first time all season to win in dramatic fashion over the Occidental Tigers, 106-104.
Men cagers set for new season
The sounds of scampering feet can once again be heard in the Student Center gymnasium as the men's basketball team prepares to enter the 1996-97 season.
