What are University of La Verne graduates from the Theatre Department doing? Well, apparently they are doing a lot and contributing what they learned at La Verne to the "real world."

Bright lights, laughter and drama are back at the University of La Verne in the Dailey Theatre. Throughout the year a variety of entertainment and performances will be held.

“We are joined together tonight in order to make a statement that we as faculty, staff and students and members of the La Verne community will not tolerate violence against anyone for any reason. We, at La Verne, want to let others know that we care about each other as members of the human race and that we appreciate the difference that diversity makes in a community and on campus.”

It is described by Jane Dibbell, associate professor of theatre arts and producer of "Approaching Simone," as provoking. Its director, Steve Kent, part-time professor of theatre arts, calls the play "emotional, funny and gripping," while Stacey Williams, a junior who has the role of Josephine Baker, declares it to be "extraordinary."

While most first graders her age were settled in a stable home, living a so called normal life, freshman theater major Lisa Manley was about to undergo a big change in her life.

“Agree to disagree” was the central theme at last Friday’s peace rally assembled in the Quad by the diversity task force. Although the rally was inspired by the alleged gay bashing involving University of La Verne students on March 29, the main focus of the rally was targeted at all hate crimes.
