La Verne inducts 8 into Hall of Fame

The La Verne Athletics Association inducted eight athletes and the 1972 NAIA National Championship baseball team into the Hall of Fame Saturday at the Mountain Meadows Golf Course in Pomona.

ULV earns trip to SCIAC playoffs

Saturday was a memorable day for the La Verne softball team, as it wrapped up the regular season with a two game sweep of the Occidental Tigers, 12-3 in game one and 4-2 in game two, earning a trip to the post-season tournament.

The softball team welcomed the Wildcats of St. Catherine with more than just handshakes; it swept the Wildcats Sunday afternoon, making it four straight wins for the Leopards.

Softball ends season at regionals

Softball ended its season Saturday with a 4-2 loss to the University of Texas at Tyler in the NCAA Division III West Regionals in Tyler, Texas, leaving the Leopards with an overall season record of 28-19.

Softball advances in regionals

After finishing a strong season, the University of La Verne softball team defeated No. 2 ranked University of Texas-Tyler, 3-1, in the first game of the NCAA West Regionals yesterday.

Tripling to right field, La Verne’s Jessica Ortega reached first base while driving in three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for her team Saturday at Wheeler Park. Softball headed to SCIAC tourney

While the softball team might have started their season on a rocky note, a win over Occidental and a sweep against Whittier this past weekend, gave the Leopards a huge confidence boost.

The La Verne softball team won a doubleheader against Cal State East Bay Friday, 3-0 and 9-1. In the second game the Leopards delivered six runs during the fifth inning and two in the sixth resulting in a win by the mercy rule. La Verne topples Regals in two

While the sun might have struggled to break through Saturday morning, the University of La Verne softball team had no problem beating down on the Cal Lutheran Regals as they were victorious in both games of the doubleheader at Hutton Field in Thousand Oaks.

Advancing to third on a wild pitch put La Verne’s Melissa Carlson in scoring position on Saturday against Claremont Mudd-Scripps. Trisha McCormick allowed Carlson to score on an RBI. Carlson was safe at home, but the Leopards lost 4-5 in game two. CMS swept the Leopards in the two-game series. La Verne will host Cal State East Bay today. / photo by Jaclyn Dino

Leopards drop two to Claremont

Softball faced a tough lineup last weekend with a split against Redlands, the No. 1 team in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and two losses against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, currently ranked number two in SCIAC.

Softball swept by Pomona-Pitzer

With the season halfway gone, the University of La Verne softball team, which won seven of their last eight games, traveled to Wig Beach diamond in Claremont last Saturday to play a crucial conference doubleheader against Pomona-Pitzer.
