Nine University of La Verne students and recent alumni were recognized in the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards competition Saturday for stories and photos produced for the Campus Times, La Verne Magazine and LVTV in 2015.
The communications department is once again in good hands with new leaders that are passionate about their media outlets and their ability to reach out to the University of La Verne community.
Junior journalism major Christian Orozco will take over as the new editor in chief of the Campus Times for the spring 2013 semester, and senior journalism major Alex Forbess will serve as the editor in chief for La Verne Magazine in spring.
Sophomore journalism and speech communication major Lauren Creiman will take on the position of editor in chief for La Verne Magazine for fall semester 2012, and sophomore radio broadcasting major Corey Smee will serve as program director for Leo FM for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association awarded the Campus Times online publication for its excellence in content and design with a Gold Crown Award last month in the association’s annual contest.
A changing of the guard for La Verne Magazine and the Campus Times is taking place in spring 2012 as Jason Cox and Christina Collins Burton take over the editor in chief positions for the publications.
