The La Verne women’s water polo team had an opportunity to improve its record by playing Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference opponent Whittier at home Wednesday but was handed its third loss in a row with an overall record of 14-4.

Coming off a win against Colorado College, women’s water polo battled Cal Lutheran and Caltech kicking off conference play this past week.

The sun shone over the water and the pool glistened as the women’s water polo team kicked off their season with two home games.

The University of La Verne men’s and women’s swimming teams concluded their seasons last Thursday through Saturday at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Invite held at the Cerritos Aquatic Center.

Despite its efforts, the University of La Verne women’s soccer team failed to gain a win last Thursday, with an upsetting 7-1 defeat against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens.

Last Saturday the University of La Verne women’s soccer team hosted Occidental at Ben Hines Field, resulting in a tough 3-0 loss for the Leopards.
