While many regard a loved one’s death with a time of mourning and a solemn celebration of the person’s life, Mexican heritage takes the celebration to new heights every year on Nov. 1 with “El dia de los muertos.”
Joe sat on the well-worn waiting room couch, nervously thumbing through People magazine. He could not stop himself from looking up every time someone passed. Moments later his girlfriend returns from the nurse's office, slowly closing the door behind her. He does not even need to ask. The look on her face tells him what they suspected all along -- she is pregnant.
"Room in a mansion, personal chef and killer salary" advertises the 15 resident assistant (R.A.) and three program assistant (P.A.) positions serving the residence halls at the University of La Verne. More than 70 students have shown interest in applying for the positions.
A new housing policy was put into effect for Thanksgiving break, or as the Office of Housing and Residential Life calls it, a continuous policy finally being followed through on. Many students, particularly in the Oaks Residence Hall, were upset about having to justify why they needed to remain in their room over the break.
