Even with a full La Verne home crowd cheering, the women’s water polo team could not come through against Occidental at the La Verne Aquatics Center in Las Flores Park Saturday, losing 4-2 on the Leopards’ senior day.
Sophomore swim team member Madeline Lovrensky had a record setting season, capturing the SCIAC title for the 100 and 200-yard backstroke for the second year in a row, giving her four individual conference titles. She has not been beaten in a SCIAC event in her two years at La Verne.
After a season of rebuilding, head swimming and diving coach Pat Skehan and the Leopards are ready to make a splash in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
