University of La Verne student athletes with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher were honored Wednesday with lunch in the Old Gym.

After shutting down University of Redlands, one of the conference’s highest scoring teams, then ending California Lutheran University’s 23 home games wining streak, the University of La Verne men’s basketball team took on Occidental College Monday evening.

With Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play around the corner, the men’s basketball team continued their tune-up, pre-season schedule going 1-2 at the Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament in Redlands.

With the young season now in full stride, the University of La Verne men’s basketball team opened with a 2-2 record after splitting two games during thanksgiving break against top-notch teams at the Masters Tournament in Santa Clarita.

The University’s Learning Enhancement Center is serving more students this year than it has in the past. But it is doing so with a smaller staff of student tutors.

The once over-crowded residence halls at the University of La Verne are being vacated by students who no longer wish to live on campus.
