Even though the California recall circus has left town, the tent is not vacant. The big top in Sacramento has been filled by the 68 diverse members of Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger's transition team.

Voting should not be viewed as a burden, nor as something that we do to "follow our parents." It should be taken seriously, on an individual basis, with personal opinion, and with pride. Despite a last ditch effort for Governor Pete Wilson to grant clemency on Tuesday, William G. Bonin was executed by lethal injection this morning at 12:01 a.m. at San Quentin Prison. Bonin was sentenced to die 13 years ago for the brutal murders of 14 boys and young men, between the ages of 12 and 18, during 1979 and 1980 in Orange and Los Angeles counties. He was the first to be executed by lethal injection in California.

“A hunger strike has no limits,” said Angel Cervantes, a Claremont Graduate School student who is one of the five southland students who pledged to starve on Oct. 17 until the University of California Regents agreed to meet and reevaluate their July 20 decision to roll back affirmative action programs.
