Head baseball coach Scott Winterburn, whose team won the SCIAC championship last May, accepted a new position as assistant athletic director with mixed feelings, following a failed tenure bid that caused University of La Verne administrative officials to change his job classification from faculty member to administrator.

The team completed another historic season on Tuesday by going undefeated in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the second time earning them back-to-back championships.

Rex Huigens, a hall of fame athlete, an award-winning coach and a dedicated professor at the University of La Verne, will retire at the end of this semester after dedicating more than 37 years of his life to the faculty and students of ULV.
